Will there be work for us in heaven if we make it? Yes or no and are there scriptures to back it up?

I posted this in your other thread of the same subject:

quote:

Will there be any work for us if we make it to heaven? Is there any scriptures to back it up either yes or no?

Well, this may not be the thread for this discussion (since it is presumably a future event rather than a current event ) but Scripture certainly seems to indicate there will be activity in eternity, though it probably won't be 'work' as we think of it. There is an ever-so-brief description in Revelations:

Revelation 22:1-4
Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

There will no longer be any curse ; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.

So it seems serving God will be our primary purpose - which of course is an extension of our lives here.

The other thing to note is that in eternity we won't be in 'Heaven' per se but we will live on a new earth and universe free from the curse of sin.

I like that Jack, activity. There won't be 'toil' or labor for sustenance or to 'gain the acceptance of others' however there will be activity in personal growth and we'll(if redeemed)be able to have a real appreciation for His Glory and provision throughout Eternity and probably it will grow over eternity. 'For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them because God has shown it to them.'(Romans 1:18,19)

You know I really dont know but I will say this. I was wondering myself what I would do in heaven when I get there. I have been praying about this and I am not sure if this is exactly right, but I think I am going to sing and dance for God in ways that are not possible here on earth. I love the arts, and music and theater. I dont have enough talent to live off that in this world, but I feel like I will be doing that. Kind of like putting on a concert for the Lord. I really feel this. Ive had visons about it already. And of coure the music in heaven is thee most beautiful music that will ever be created. I think this is true, I am so excited. I would be a performer of some sort, but God never gave me a way on this world. Its not what I am called to do on this side but I will in heaven oneday. I just feel it deep inside my spirit that this is true. I will ondey find out if its true. Why would God put those desires in my heart otherwise? I use to take dance classes, from jazz, to ballet, to modern dancing. I had to stop that becasue I had to focus on what was really important. Well not that long ago the Spirit of the Lord told me that I was going to dance again. I thought this was strang, becasue I am already in my late 20s now. Its kind of too late to learn and practice and be good at dancing now. Well I think what He meant was in HEAVEN. This would be the only thing that would make sense now that I think of it. I need the Holy Spirit to confirm it for me though because I cant tell if I made that up myself or if it came from Him directly..ahaha.

Before the fall of man the Word tells us what it was like

And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Gen 2:10 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

Gen 2:11 The name of the first [is] Pison: that [is] it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where [there is] gold;

Gen 2:12 And the gold of that land [is] good: there [is] bdellium and the onyx stone.

Gen 2:13 And the name of the second river [is] Gihon: the same [is] it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Gen 2:14 And the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel: that [is] it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river [is] Euphrates.

Gen 2:15 And the LORD God took the man,

and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

(After the fall of man this is what it became)

Gen. 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed [is] the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat [of] it all the days of thy life;

Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.

Now do I believe heaven will be work like we know it now ..No

Before mans fall

Adam dressed the garden and kept it..
After mans fall it is described entirely different

I believe our work will be to serve the Lord in whatever way He so graciously chooses

will it be sweat and tears like now

NO WAY HOSEA

I cant help but recall the scripture that says

Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God hath prepared for those who love Him

Who knows and who can imagine what the Lord has prepared for HIs precious children.....Whatever these things are

They have to be beautiful and wonderful because that is the kind of God we do serve.

And we will all give Him the glory and praise that is due Him, whether by word or song or dance

Our Lord will be glorified and thats all that matters to me,that He will finally get the glory that is due Him.

Amen Amen!

God bless

no

hebrews 4

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. 9 So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. 10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.
