So is that who answers the phones at their office? I placed an order from there 1-2 years ago and spoke with someone who sounded like an older lady. I wondered who it was.

Really??? Are you sure? I know they're going to be in Montgomery in January, but I thought they were taking almost all of December "off."

Whenever you see them, I hope you really enjoy yourself! And, I hope you're taking your sweet Bride!

OK, I'll make a note to call on Monday.

Thing is, there's probably a better than 50% chance I'll wait till I see them next. *But,* there is always a chance someone unexpected asks for a Christmas present idea. Since I decided that would be at the top of my list, I thought I'd better know how much it cost!

Nope! I'm waiting till APRIL when I go to see L5 and GV in Spring Arbor, MI. (does it get any better than that!?!? WOO HOO!) But I looked real hard at it when I was at the Bible Book Store. I would rather buy it directly from them.

From GV newsletter:

This week, we celebrate one of the most important Federal Holidays of the year... Thanksgiving. I'm sure you know the story behind the first Thanksgiving Day, and even though we're many years removed from that original "Feast of Thanksgiving", we still have MUCH to be thankful for. There isn't space enough on this page to begin a partial list of things we have been blessed with, but I would like to name just a few, and you can add to it as this week progresses.

Salvation - The greatest gift God has ever offered to mankind, through the sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Family - The first, and still the greatest organization in the world, established by God himself.

Salvation - The greatest gift God has ever offered to mankind, through the sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Church - If you are a part of a good, Bible-based fellowship, you already understand the blessing of a great church. If you are not actively involved in a local church, you should be! You're missing out on some of God's greatest blessings and opportunities for service.

Friends - There is no greater blessing than having a friend... or being one.

There's lots of other things you'll be able to add to my short list, like health, job, home, etc. . The point is... take time this week to be thankful, and to express your thanks to others, and most importantly to the Lord.

No, he tried to give away a whole bag of goodies that belonged to Ivan Parker when we saw them in Belleville, IL back in October. The little kid's dad made him give it back.

The press release from Greater Vision's e-newsletter....

quote:

"Not Alone" named a "Top Ten" CD
Greater Vision's Latest CD among top recordings for 2008

Greater Vision's latest CD, "Not Alone" has been named one of Christian Music's Top Ten Recordings for 2008 by the Staff and Senior Music Editors of the Gospel Music Channel. "Not Alone" is the only "traditional" Gospel recording to be placed in the Top Ten for 2008, and we are very excited and honored to be included in the list.

The writers and staff of the Gospel Music Channel described the recording by saying... "Great harmonies and poignant, powerful lyrics have always been the backbone of Greater Vision's music ministry and it's those qualities that make Not Alone one of the best discs of the year in any genre. Principal songwriter Rodney Griffin has a special gift and, once again, his lyrical genius makes this album a stand-out." To read the description on GospelMusicChannel.com, click Here.

Right now, the Gospel Music Channel is giving you the opportunity to vote for your favorite Gospel Recording of 2008. When you vote, you can also register to be included in a drawing for a complete set of the Top Ten Recordings of 2008. To vote, click here.

The Gospel Music Channel is a network that airs all genres of Christian music, twenty-four hours a day on many cable systems throughout the United States. It is also available on DirecTV and Sky Angel satellite systems.

Congratulations, Greater Vision! I hope this recognition will encourage many others to listen to and be blessed by your music and your testimony!

Wow! If, as an SG fan, I didn't find it a bit ..... "icky" to see that album next to some of the rest of them ... (I mean, I don't even like to look at some of the artwork.) I guess I'm saying that I don't need anybody else to tell me it's good.

BTW, did you notice that you can vote for your favorite? I wonder if they picked it because they were trying to find an SG representation, or not? There was the Crabb Revival CD in there, too.

Personally, I still like Everyday People better than Not Alone. I think that's reasonable, though - that the crowning effort of a group that had been together for 10 years would be better than the first album produced by a lineup that hadn't even been on the road yet. It just says that Everyday People is really good!

I think I actually like Not Alone just a little better. But that's partly because I like Jacob's voice so much!

Well reasoned and well stated. I tend to agree with you.

I LOVE Memories Made New!! I think it's primarily on account of song selection. Gerald could hardly have come up with a better list of my favorites if he had asked me to write it myself! I was enthralled from the first note. Honestly, I like it better than Not Alone, although I wouldn't expect everyone to agree with me. I like old songs (even though I'm not old)!
I was kinda worried about how they were going to handle "I'm Too Near Home," but they pulled it off without a hitch! I was quite surprised to find that I missed a bass singer a lot more on "Whosoever Will." I mean, I grew up on the Cathedrals version of that. I really, really wish they'd gotten a guest bass singer for that one - preferably Eric Bennett, but I'd take just about anyone!

And "Treasures Unseen" - I had never heard this song before, but when the intro started, I realized that it was one that I've heard my dad sing snatches of the chorus over the years. Whenever he sings it, there is something about it so ... something ... that it makes me want to cry. It really says it all. And GV delivered that on this version! Does anyone know who might originally have recorded this song?

Anyway, this CD has just rocketed to the top of my list. I just have to manage to keep my mouth shut about it for the next month!

ETA: For the first (and maybe last) time in my life, I was the first one to submit track names to the CDDB database. So if there are any typos, you know who to blame it on!
