I hadn't thought of using a chicken bone, but that's a great idea. It will be our first seder, so any other advice is more than welcome.

Interesting! I found the one given to me-- probably already a few years old-- by the woman who coordinates the congregational seders, wrapped in a paper towel in my car, so used that last year. I figure it's dried out, and didn't make us sick, so it should be fine to use for years to come. [/font]
LOL.............passing the bone around the table?

The bone is just held up by the table leader. I put it that way because I have led seders for huge groups. The first seder I led was for 150 people. A few years ago I led one for almost 300 at a Catholic school.

Dave: I bought THIS one. It explained a lot more and was kind of a "Pesach for Dummies" so I got it to use. It seems very helpful so far.

LOL, yep.
On our first one we passed it around so everyone could look at it.
We have graduated from grape juice to kosher wine. lol

I used a chicken bone at the first seder I hosted, because the haggadah prep booklet I used, said it was okay. However, I've since reconsidered, and prefer to use a lamb shank.

After all, if the bone is representative of Messiah, how does a chicken bone represent Him?

Just my thoughts.

Some prefer not to use a lamb bone or eat lamb to avoid confusion. Since there is no Temple, there can be no real Pesach to eat. Others believe that since Yeshua is The Pesach, the meat served is just part of the meal, without significance.

The Chabad are good at explaining stuff at a very basic level. However, they are also big proponents of Kabalah, Jewish mysticism, which includes black magic.

No worries, Dave...I tend to ignore the Kabballah stuff when I hear it...not that there's much in this particular book.

I'm familiar with all this reasoning, I just think that maybe it should be thought through a bit more.

To all,

Shalom,
I am taking an extended break from all forums for this season in my life because I need to get some things straightened out in my life. Until that is done I am not glorifying Yah by doing ANYTHING on the internet that doesn't have to do with these things.

I totally agree. And it also depends on which tradition, if any, you follow-many Sephardics do eat lamb at Pesach.

I do lean more towards Sepahrdic tradition if I choose to follow any tradition at all-which means in my house we do eat beans, rice, orzo, couscous, corn, etc...during Pesach.

And yes, we do eat lamb on Pesach at my home.

We have a new comer to our morning Bible Study from 8am --- 10am.
He and his wife came to our Passover service.

He brought along what I might deem the best book written on what
most call THE LAW. LOL.

It's written by Michael W. Marks.
The title is "The New Testament and The LAW"
by JOY Publishing. ISBM 0-939513-36-6

I would definitely recommend it for a newbie to the "Roots Movement."
It's an easy read. I have it on loan and hope to finish it by this weekend.

Everyone have a great UNLEAVENED BREAD season.

I can understand what all the nay sayers mean. It is such a burden to have to make do with roast, karoset, vegtable salad and motzah, while forgoing ham, doughnuts, jello and sandwich bread.

We attended a congregational seder at the synagogue this year, so I'm missing munching on leftover haroset-and-matzo sandwiches at home.

I made haroset this year from a Separdic recipe, made with chopped dates--it was the best ever!

I actually had some of the yummy Texas charoset a friend of mine makes-- she spikes it with cayenne for some heat, and this year used agave nectar instead of honey. Yum!

That's the problem with dating a thread. Maybe the IP can change the title. Since, I presume, no one here is dispensational, this should probably be a timeless thread.
