A beautiful line from this link: "Worship is a life action"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYPYIlkv-z4

God is God, we rest on this.
The Word is truth, giving us gifts.
Church is healing, we bless each other.
Family is life, a covenant
of parent, child, sister, brother.
One trusts God in these and lives,
we bless Him for our togetherness.
All revelation unveiled stems from His Word,
and this from God, and He alone, Amen.

Awe

They say the “Blood of Jesus”
is scarcely in songs, within theologians.
I do not doubt it.
Yet at times, I can barely say it,
because it was not my own.

I admire Messianic brethren
for their reticence, penning “G-d”.
They do this, though the veil is broken,
for reverence to the Son.

If I could truly grasp
the Man of Sorrows’ way,
if my joy rose into “It is finished!”,
I would sing, “Thank You for the Bl-d!”.

Sacred One, among sacred things
may our lives always say, “Holy!”.
When revelation touches tongue,
His Presence fills the gaps
inside our meager words.

The enemy’s greatest accusation ever?
He might have asked God, “You love yourself, don’t You?!”
In which case,The Sound of Many Waters
could have thundered in reply, each phrase flashing,
causing the deceiver to shake, fall and bow
at the marvelous Wisdom:
“The Father loves the Son!
“the Son, Holy Spirit!
“Each, the Other,
“in giving, centered,
“This Love is One!
“And just to show how deep, how wide,
“fallen are called to Paradise!
“Those who say, ‘Oh Love Divine!’
“I cast not out but do invite!
“Go, tremble, wonder at this Light!
“Forever Day against your night!”

Could Brendan McNamara (Christian, actor by vocation) be related to G.K. Chesterton?

He is one of a small band of servant-eccentrics who can communicate with humor/seriousness at the same time.

Here are some examples from his Youtube site {bear with his sniffing; he's had a cold of late; he usually opens each post with a spoof on a song}.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05s2St7-CIM&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/user/fireballmcnamara#p/a/f/0/0LIHlF9shDY

This is the first one of Branden's that I came across (imagine how I sat back when it first started ). It is humorously deep:

http://www.youtube.com/user/fireballmcnamara#p/a/u/5/a56OzDroFfQ

Here's his Youtube page:

Strikes me that youth and college ministers could use Brandon's materials for ministry/outreach.

Why not fiddle with your faith?

"Making melody in your heart unto the King of Kings".

The Mega Church, any local body, can only survive to the extent that we Christians walk in the Word's encouragement to get a faith-melody in our hearts as we trod the sod.

I don't know about you, but it isn't the high-powered songs that I can hum during the day. The tunes that have staying power touch the callouses in our hands and make us smell the curious mix of heaven on this earth.

Get some song from the Lord deep down inside you, whether it is driven by a sax or a fiddle.

I swim often. On the hard days, I sometimes quip that it felt like "swimming through jello". There's a sense of hindrance.

Do the cares of this world have you feeling hindered? As you listen to this link, just recall that our Lord is not hindered in any way, ever! Get refreshed, picture yourself running to the donkey on which Jesus rode. Cheer Him on; you will in-turn be cheered.

Hosannah to the King!

“Lift your eyes, look to see, Who created all of these, and never more complain that He doesn’t know your ways”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hebrews talks about the Spirit-enabled launch from the elemental teachings of our faith, then a pursuit of God in all His fullness. Not that basic teachings are ignored; these are indeed fuel for the journey. We reorient ourselves to them in renewal, then journey again into other, connected spheres of our faith in Messiah Jesus (“glory to glory”).
When we do launch, it is together.
There is a cycle of maturation that involves exploration with God and also a resting upon His strong right arm.
How can broken people fly together,
fly together?
Is this movement-impossible,
possible?
We all jump, jump, jump
into the faith we so believe in,
and we fly, high-high
in the power of Resurrection!
We believe in God Almighty,
Maker of Heaven and the Earth,
of the visible or not: all things,
designed to bring us to Comfort,
and these fuse into us a new creation.
The restored
fly like they are all on the wings of an eagle.
Oh-oh-oh,
Soar, within sight of the Truth
to see and to be seen.
We land on elementary things
enough to find our rest,
then off, once more, to discover how we fly.
We were born again, in a different way;
our hearts cradle that conviction.
We’re a Body, ready to be lifted up,
for the joy of the Father, to survey
this world’s story and be wise like enlightened children.
There are no shadows where we embrace your wind,
except from the higher, floating wisps of a gracious will
and those moon labels that lay across the landscape
when we repose in Righteousness.
And these things
make each of us a new creation.
The restored
fly like they are all on the wings of an eagle.
Oh-oh-oh,
Soar, within sight of the Truth.
We land on elementary things
enough to find our rest,
then off, once more, to discover how we fly.
"Comfort my people says the Lord".
When we read "Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep", we tend to gravitate to the former if we are in a good way.
The latter needs so much of our focus. The hurting, needy, and mourning need us.
I definitely need encouragement now. So do many who reads this.
When you listen to this, accept it, and let it prompt you to pray for and overtly help others:
As Kingdom children, our presence (through the Spirit of Messiah Jesus) graces the moment wherever we are. It is really a matter of doing, our attitude--not how we feel. Heaven free us from being thin-skindividuals!
In this link, Steve Bell recounts his childhood memories of how his dad was a chaplain in Drumheller, Canada. Steve would listen to inmate jam sessions.
As I listen to it, I think of the light for Jesus that his dad was in a very challenging situation.
God wishes the same buoyancy of this song within each of us wherever His gifts take us in the "ministry of reconciliation".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIXLXc-CT20 ("I Offer My Life")
I just finished reading the Crosswalk news article, “Islamic Gunmen Kill World Vision Workers in Pakistan”.
Lord, receive your servants. Send messengers, if only your Spirit, to bring Good News to the ones who killed them. May you pursue them with undying conviction--for undying You Are!
What kind of song can a martyr sing?
There is no audience roaring with raw approval,
no medals on ribbons,
no sponsor to be mentioned to ensure a vacation
away from reality.
What kind of heart does a martyr have?
There is no hurdle over which self-effort may jump,
no pat on the back,
no mentor among academia who can be quoted,
whose words live on their own.
Step back and watch the singing heart of a martyr,
whose weary mind is overtaken be a surety
that just as boldness makes the world awash with sin-madness,
the audacity of Heaven overpowers, intervenes.
There are no words to say, “Lord, how beautiful your Heaven!”
The world would not be worthy of the Spirited accolades.
During the initial imprisonment of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by the Nazi regime, the pastor/theologian had plenty of time to ponder his relationship to God.
Stripped to the bone of all trivialities, he comes face to face with his full humanity and the righteousness of God.
In the following scene from the movie, "Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace", Bonhoeffer assists guards and inmates to evacuate their cells during a night Allied bombing raid.
He is driven to make a commitment to the One outside of himself (appropriately Barthian and biblical): "Whoever I am, You know, Dear God I shall always belong to You". Let us, proactively, take Bonhoeffer's example to pursue Christ to the fullest.
Re: Spiritual Kit
Instructions:
(1) Remove ("R") beam from your right eye. Do not pay attention to complaining.
(2) Remove ("L") beam from your left eye. Do not pay attention to complaining.
(3) Affix "R" to "L" by connecting them at right angle through the groove labelled, "mouth"
(4) Rest cross on right or left shoulder, whichever allows you at any given moment to best see straight ahead.
Notes:
(1) Cross will often seem very light
(2) You will notice that turning abruptly from a straight path will be unnatural and painful. Only turn after planning a gradual turn.
(3) See Reminder and Warning below
Reminder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5_Z3ZZYLDc
(click "more info" in upper right of that page for lyrics)
Warning:
Any attempts to disassemble and place beams back into your eyes can cause personal trauma and stinging in your eyes. Just remember that prior to receiving this package, it was sent to you at no cost and you did not know the beams existed. In retrospect, however, you know the affliction the beams caused.
"You always seem to find me, Shepherd of Love"
This song by Ralph Van Manen goes so much to the core--Coeur, of God.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQtxvb3eFoM
Jesus, Shepherd, thank you for your tenacious, tender care for your flock!
Can salvation be unredeemed,
Can Love be unrequited?
Who holds the ransom for exchange with the Father?
Yeshua, proud for us!
Yeshua, One Who is never ashamed,
You conquered death for the sake of the lambs.
The lambs know your voice,
You shepherd with such care;
Ninety-nine are as sure as one.
One-hundred redeemed:
none is ever is lost!
The grafted-in, by mystery revealed, are called to provoke Israel to jealousy. A last resort for we gentiles saved by grace. But . . . praise God for that! And praise Him for when the provoked also respond to the Good News.
I searched for the above song after writing the below this afternoon. The song itself says it all.
Ardent? Sometimes we don’t feel this way,
and we earnestly don’t care,
for roots of faith under the surface
hold us in God’s sway.
The method of Redemption
is enough to make alive
Love’s realization,
Victory today.
Weary? Don’t mistake it,
We’ve been sorely worn
by others, through our own blindness,
yet witness has been born
in us by His Spirit,
and doubt is so forlorn,
as glory unto glory,
strength in us is sown.
Candidly a secret
wells within us, Lord.
We tell this to our children,
“You are not alone!”
Your tenderness touched weakness,
forgiven, we adorn
a Kingdom with a mystery,
Messiah is made known!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7zhYyO9S0E [while listening, click "more info" at the upper right for the lyrics]
This dylanesque song by Vincent J. Vera is a classic. It is a blistering critique about vanity and hoarding, and judging from the number of Youtube views, its reception is quietly juxtaposed to the very spirit Vera exposes.
How humorous and ironic that as he pins the spirit of this world to the wall, the cares of this world ring as a telephone call while Vera wraps up his song with the solution. The spiritual battle is made more apparent.
Like his ending harmonica-playing, cares are blown away under the authority of the words.
A great message for the Church and for the Church to take to this world!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Afterthought

Believing expressions tell us what we want,
to store up into heaven what belongs to God.
He will give Himself back to us a hundred-fold,
things here don’t mean much, things there will unfold
to show us how good, how mercifully done
was the Father’s dominion to honor His Son.
Whether we’re rich or whether we’re poor,
we express on this earth where we are going.

In this song by Tom Conlon, I like the line, "I've been leaning on my friends like the arms of Jesus, how they hold me up".

Come as you are, to the Throne of Grace!

Read this brother's testimony on his Youtube page

(for those who lead songs during invitations and times of meditation, this would be a great substitute for "Just as I Am")

If Jesus hadn’t wept before friends in this world,
it would be unfeeling to have faith at all,
and if Jesus hadn’t moaned, “Oh, how long, how –ow long,”
I would think God was satisfied with my home.

If He hadn’t worried folks at the Temple,
the highest would be just to live on this earth.

Jesus, I’m rested,
but Jesus I’m shaken,
I am a pilgrim, I must keep my hat on.
The rest is the road,
it seems like a long one.
If You hadn’t walked,
You know I would be still.

If You hadn’t said, “I Am the Light,”
I would be blinded by one pax or another.
If You hadn’t taught, if You hadn’t healed,
We’d have a hell, be into ourselves, be at each other.

Jesus, we’re rested,
but Jesus, we’re shaken.
A severe mercy has made us so grateful.
Called from the world,
while in this world!
If You hadn’t walked,
You know we would be still.

Mmm, mmm, mmm rested.
Mmm, mmm,mmm shaken.
Mmm, mmm, mmm rested.
Mmm, mmm,mmm sha-a-ken.

The rest is the road,
it seems like a long one.
If You hadn’t walked,
You know I would be still.

Happy Easter, Dear Friend!

I was reading your blog and this line struck a chord this morning...

quote:

It is the ever-moment of your Resurrection, Jesus,

I love this. It's got layers of meaning, you know how I love layers.

I was talking to GC about the immediacy of the Resurrection last week. I marvel at how week after week, year after year, century after century those who have been redeemed continue to celebrate it with brand new awe and joy and excitement. It's like it just happened.

He is risen! He is risen indeed!
