LOL Sarah... love the cows!

Well, Dylan is 5 months old today, so had another 1/2 of a month to this total.

We did 14 months. I would love to do that again with the next one. If baby cooperates, I'm sure I will because I'm stubborn, but the pumping got old *real* fast and I'm not sure I'm over that yet.

That's how I felt with Hannah and part of why we only lasted 7 months. I haven't pumped once since I weaned her...and it's been lovely . Is that an option for you?

I can relate. I think thats why we ended up supplementing around 6 months. I couldnt pump anymore...I was so done with it. Not only was I physically not getting anything, I was just so sick of dealing with that. Maybe it would have been different had I not had 3 full months of 24/7 around the clock pumping.

So we can be like those ads for places, when people come here for help we can tell them we have "Over 50 years combined breastfeeding experience!" To quote Isaac, "Ooooooo Ooooooo"

I thought we were going to have to supplement at about 8 months, but my supply kicked up again after a long weekend alone with no frozen milk.

So I am still going strong ... PRAISE GOD!!!

the pumping is the most annoying, aggravating, borderline humiliating thing I've ever done. My boss sees me get the keys to the room and there's a sign that says do not disturb. I'm the only one who uses the room and so everyone knows what I'm doing in there. I hate it!!!!!! I have a plan to cease and desist all pumping when she hits 1 year and doesn't need it for nutritional reasons anymore.

If I weren't working from home part time, I would not be able to maintain my supply for daycare.

And to top it off, Audrey won't drink formula. Nice.

I am truly jealous of SAHMs who get to nurse their babies and be with them full time; especially for that first year.

(I plan on getting my bosses a thank you when Audrey hits the one year mark ... just because my 2 days at home with Audrey have been very special and it's meant a lot to me to be able to be here with her and nurse her and watch some developments.)

I agree. I'm jealous of mom's who get ANY exclusive BFing time. While I am content with how we do things (working, etc.) I do mourn what we didnt get to have. I was back at work (pumping) one week post partum, and while I took time of when he came home, he had JUST learned to nurse when I went back to work part time, then later on full time. I really pray things go differently next time.

My bosses were awesome with the pumping, boss (male) would even remind me sometimes. Awkward, but over all very thankful for their support.

I'm sorry that you guys dont get the exclusively breastfeed. But I hope that you guys feel proud to be able to pump and work at the same time, providing your little ones with the precious liquid gold that they love.

Though I am thankful that I do get to stay home and feed exclusively, the situation isnt completely ideal as far as income goes.

I don't know if proud is the right word. Blessed, maybe.

No, I work part-time. Likely forever.

Yeah, I know I've got nothing on you! I am amazed by the mama's that do 24/7 pumping. For me I was always able to pump enough, but just the hassle of hauling it around, making sure I had the parts, making sure the parts were clean, etc. etc. I do work part-time which helped, but my job is not one where breaks are easy to come by, at all. In fact, the only time I've ever taken breaks is when I was pumping. But things just go so much smoother when I have that extra 20-30minutes per shift since I'm not pumping.

I get a long lunch, otherwise all my breaks are for pumping too. It took me about 4 months to figure out, but I finally have my routine.

I get in at 7. Take my pump to the room and lock it up (just so I don't have to cart it around later). Work until 8:30 and then take a break. I usually have a small snack, my coffee, and read from my bible and/or work on my memory verse at this break. then go back to work around 9:00. at 10:45 I go for my 2 mile walk with my walking buddies (husband and other co-worker). At 11:30 when we're back I pump again while eating. Usually read FB on my phone. then go back to work around noon. At 2:30 I take my final break. This break I get a cup of hot chocolate, whatever is left over from my lunch for a snack, and read my book. Currently reading Schindler's List. at 3:00 I go back and clean up my stuff for the day, finalizing any tests that I'm running or whatever else is going on in the lab. at 3:20 I meet DH at the car and we go home. I pick up Aud Ball from daycare around 4 and walk back across the street where we sit in the bed playing, nursing, or just cuddling while DH practices his drums.

Being such a small office we dont have official "breaks". When I was pumping I would take 30 minute lunches, then two 15 minute breaks, then take a full hour off my work day. I would go in at 9. Pump mid morning, take lunch at noonish, then pump mid afternoon. I would of course, nurse right before I left Isaac and as soon as I got home (unless Grandma decided he was "hungry" and fed him a bottle at 4!!) My drive home is only about 15 minutes.

Beth has started to gnaw on my breasts a little. It's not biting, but it's not nice either. She only nurses twice a day, and there's not much milk left. She often does not nurse to sleep any more. I just put her down for a nap now, and she's talking to herself in her crib.

This morning I had gotten out of the shower and sat on the bed and hadnt gotten my bra/shirt on yet. Isaac looks at me intently then leans over like he's going to latch on. I calmly asked him "what are you doing?" And he stopped and looked at me with this look that says "I'm not really sure...." It was the most confused look I've ever seen. He didnt try again and I didnt actually prevent him from doing it. Its like it was instinctual but he had no idea what or why!

LOL...all of mine have done that in one way or another after they stopped nursing.

Isabel pulled my shirt aside the other morning in bed and pointed and said happily "milkies" and just wanted to look at them for a minute. No attempts just admiration.

It was cute.

At some point we were playing with her Little People zoo's worth of animals and I had a baby cow drink from mama cow and all the sudden EVERY animal had milkies and was feeding all the other animals.

I get a kick out of her.

Audrey is starting to sign "milk." But not consistently. I finally gave my daycare lady a list and descriptions of the signs we're doing and asked that she use them. I hope that will kick the signing in to high gear.

Audrey understands milk. I start to make the motion to expose the milk jugs and she gets all excited and tries to latch on before there is anything on which to latch!

I just love her!!!!

Love that Miss Audrey is such a good and happy nurser for you Christine!!

Isabel took a while to start using the signs back to us but knew ALOT that she could react to in positive/negative way.

Thanks Brandy. Me too. Of course I think she's too happy of a nurser sometimes. I thought I was going to have to start supplementing and she wouldn't take formula. As it is she won't take a bottle if I'm around.

She's getting to the point where she will sit and wait for me to come home and not fuss if she's hungry. But once she sees mommy coming she's a real pill.

The couple times I've seen her do a sign, I'm not 100% sure she was truly signing. But it looked like the sign and I gave her what she was signing. And I asked her as I saw her sign. Even if she wasn't intentionally making the sign, I wanted to enforce the movement she did with the food or milk.

Exactly what you should do. Isabel does a couple that aren't quite textbook correct but they work for us! Apple and More are her favorites right now.

Your Isabel is a cut & funny girl!

My Jac is now 9 months old and when we're all playing on the floor he comes over to me (quite frequently) and goes all "Guppie Fish" on my breasts, lol...through my clothes! I guess just to make sure they're still there?

Mmmm, Beth may not make it to 15 months. I know milk is still there, I can hand express just fine, but her latch is awful. She pops on and off and she bit me twice today. Several times she just sort gave up and looked at me like "Now what?" She's also been going down to bed awake but sleepy.

Could she be teething?
