I bought a flexible weeper hose to put in my veggie garden, (because I found out they are not regulated by our watering restrictions) but it wasn't quite long enough so I bought another. I set them out them out yesterday, and what a job! Should have done it when the plants were a little smaller. Then the water wouldn't flow all the way to the end, because the hose is so long (150 feet). My hubby came outside and did a few adjustments and now the water comes out all along the hose up to the very end. My peas are about 8 inches tall, and I will have to put some string around them to help them grow up my tripod-like support system I made for them. I have had plants totally disappear before too, and I figured some wild animal ate them. Rabbits, raccoons and deer all eat plants. I used to use plant markers, but the names fade, as you said. Now I have a gardening binder where I draw a rough sketch of all my beds, and note where everything is planted to keep track. I would never remember otherwise, lol.

We don't have wild animals in my neighborhood unless you consider my neighbors cat a wild animal. I don't live near woods or anything like that. It is just gone, like I never planted it. Literally! It is so weird! Nothing else is missing, whatever else I planted is still there, including the yellow peppers I planted which are near them. It's just to weird. Do you think God wanted some red peppers for his garden up in Heaven so he took them? That would explain a lot! LOL I hope I didn't offend anybody by saying that. Today it wasn't raining, someone said, it was pouring! Okay, we did get technical, didn't we. Even if we hadn't had bad weather, I was working all day, then off to dance and I didn't get home until 6:35. I was not going into the garden to plant anything even if it was nice out. Tomorrow is more of the same. Bummer! I want to finish out there! I haven't even started to weed out the place where I want to plant flowers yet and I have some that need to get planted out there. However, the garden comes first. Let's hope this weekend is nice so I can go outside and do what I need to do.

Gail, did you dig in the dirt where the pepper was planted to see if the root and potting soil around the root was still there? Sometimes a cutworm will cut off a plant right at the ground and you can't easily tell that it was there. But usually when that happens you will find the top of the plant laying on the ground. I am having a problem with my corn. Something is eating the roots off. I keep finding wilted corn stalks (they are about six inches high) coming out of the ground and when I pick them up they have no root. Also, if I dig down where the corn was there is a hole or tunnel in the ground, so it is probably some kind of vole or other underground critter that is eating them. I have planted a lot of castor bean plants, which are supposed to get rid of moles, in that garden for the last three years but I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

I dug in the dirt and the only thing in there is the veggie plant food pellets that I put in before plant. Weird! I bought another one and planted it. It's still there as of today. I planted some corn and green beans today and more yellow squash. I hate how squash takes over the whole garden. My tomato plants have some white leaves on them and the leaves look like they are dying. Same with my parsley and most of it is gone. Lucky for me I bought some Parsley seeds so I will plant them in a pot. That way, no weeds and I will know it's Parsley and not a weed and pull it up by mistake. If it's not raining tomorrow and I don't have to work, I will be out in the garden again tomorrow. I have lots of Strawberries! Some are almost all red and some are red and white. Thank you Lord for the cool Strawberries and for letting me get some as I've never planted them before. My nephew says he loves Strawberries and I promised him the first one.

I don't know how to help you with your corn as I've never had that problem before. Sorry about that.

Today I put some flowers out in our front yard. They were in pots on the dining room table. 2 of them don't look so good but with water and sun and some plant food I think they will be okay. Now I've noticed the leaves on my cucumber plant are turning white. Why is this happening? I hope I get some cucumbers as my nephew loves them and he said the ones in my garden were better than any from the store. I've never had this happen before. I also planted with seeds some Nasturtium's and Pansy's. I can't wait until they come up. I watered everything today as it's going to be hot and humid this week and there will be no rain until Wed. and a bad storm they are saying on Thurs.

Yes. I find gardening a very therapeutic exercise and love it when it's time of the year to do it. This year, it's extra special because I'm doing it with my toddler. I get to do what I like doing while he gets to have fun and learn something along the way too.

When I was weeding yesterday, I discovered some blackish looking little balls, that I thought were maybe seeds of some sort, until one of them uncurled in my hand! I was wearing gloves, so it wasn't too bad, lol. Didn't know what they were so I looked in a book and figured out they were wood lice. Never seen them before but there sure are a lot of them in my garden now. Hope they don't do too much damage to my plants, and hope some hungry birds will come along and eat 'em all up.

Today I planted more corn and green beans, yellow beans and lettuce. I also sprinkled Cayenne Pepper all over my garden. I hope that helps with the critters, whatever they are. I have a little bit more to do and then I am done! My peas have to get tied down more and they have flowers on them. Yeah! Stuff is really starting to come up and I am so happy! My parsley totally all died. I am so mad! It never died when I bought it from the place that went out of business. I have some seeds and I will plant them in a pot. We are supposed to have rain on Tues. but I watered the garden today because it's been hot and humid.

Fri. I put some potato parts with eyes on them and I am hoping they grow and I get potatoes. It's been raining for the past 2 days, at least raining enough so I can't finish my garden. Maybe tomorrow. I think I have to tie up my peas more. I actually have some out there but nothing I can pick yet. I haven't gotten to the front yard to de-weed it so I can buy and plant some lanatnas. They are my faves. I have to get the garden finished first then I can do that. I can't wait to stand back and admire it all and thank the one who helped me with everything. God is so good!

Today it looked like rain all day and all we got were sprinkles. My veggies need sunshine! I did manage to tie up my peas more today and I actually picked some and had them with my lunch! Boy, were they yummy! There was only enough for one person though so nobody else got to have any. I want to plant more in my garden but it's getting kind of late to do anything. It's not my fault! If it wasn't raining, I was working or getting ready for a dance recital. This week for sure if it doesn't rain and I don't have to work, I am going to finish. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain and thunder. I used the Cayenne pepper and nothing has been in my garden lately. Yeah!

Today I went out in my garden and did some weeding. There seems to be a lot of weeds in there. It's funny, I bought that black material like stuff to put over the dirt so I wouldn't have weeds and the weeds come up out of the black stuff! Either I have super weeds or that stuff stinks. I'm thinking that stuff stinks. I wish I had saved the paper from the outside of the package because I would be e-mailing them a really nasty letter. I also sprinkled Cayenne Pepper all over my garden and gave them some water. They needed it. Maybe tomorrow I can go out again and do more in there. It's supposed to rain late in the day but if I know our weathermen, who seem to be wrong more then right lately, it will rain earlier than they say and I won't get to go out.

I have had good success with landscape fabric stopping weeds (black material) but in places where two pieces meet, weeds can grow. I have bark mulch on top of it, and there are a few weeds that sprout in the mulch, they are easy to pull out though. I have heard newspapers work for stopping the growth of weeds, but I haven't tried it myself.

The weeds are coming up where the black stuff is seamed but it is also coming up all over the garden, right through the stuff! The weed was so hard and so bad in one place I almost pulled up the plant right next to it! I really wish I could e-mail them and tell them how much i hate their stuff. I want to use it up and seem to have a ton of it still on the roll. Maybe I could get a refund? I will try to do a google search. I know I bought it at K-Mart but I am sure they don't have anymore that I could get a name from. I try and get something to help me out and all it does is give me work.

Today I dug up the dirt around the tree stump so I could plant some flowers there. Boy, did that take a while and it was hot too. I may need to put more dirt in there. I have some tree roots I think that I can't dig out. I tried to pull them out but I couldn't. My cousin is coming over to help with some shrubs or something. Maybe be can get rid of them.

Tree roots can be tough to dig out. I have some shoots coming up on the edge of my veggie garden that I think are from my neighbor's plum tree, and I haven't even tried to dig them out yet. I was hoping my husband would go at it, but he suggested I spray them with something in the fall. I am still concerned that the spray could harm nearby plants.

Okay, I watered my garden yesterday. For the past 4 days they have predicted rain and bad weather. I didn't want to over water anything so I didn't water at all. Never trust the weather men. I couldn't water today because I wasn't home all day. Tomorrow I will. My cousin was over our house and he owns a landscaping and lawn service so I asked him about the tree things sticking out of the dirt. He just cut them with his clippers. Now I need to get more dirt so I can plant some Lantanas in there. I can't wait to get them and put them in. They will make our yard look so pretty. I want to dig around the other tree stump and plant there too. Our house is going to look so beautiful on the outside! The new peas I planted are coming up. I think the beautiful plant that is coming up where I planted a potato is a potato underneath. I've never seen anything like it before so I'll bet it's from that eye of the potato I planted. I want to dig it up and see. A lot of the farmers in our area say that lots of things are coming out early because of all the hot weather we have been having. I hope that means my corn will be early. That would be so much fun for all of us! Only some tiny, green tomatoes and no beans yet or much of anything except for peas and lettuce. Some was done by seeds, some by plants.

Over watered my garden because we aren't supposed to have any rain until next weekend. It's also supposed to get very hot and humid for a while so they will need the water. We also have a high fire danger. I'm glad we don't live near any woods. Lots of flowers on a lot of my things. Now I am just waiting until something grows on them. The heat and sun will help them a lot and so will my watering. My first pea plants have turned brown. Time to replant. I was told I can replant until it really gets cold and we might have frost. I never seem to get enough peas for me. I love them. Tomorrow I will be buying my plants for the front yard. I wanted to go today with my nephew but he had to leave early. I wanted him to help me pick them out. I just thought he would have fun helping me out. He won't be over tomorrow. Guess I'll be planting them myself.

Today I planted some flowers in front of the house. They look so pretty. They didn't have a lot of Lantana's so I bought some flowers that kind of that look like them. They are purple and I like how they look in between the orange and yellow ones. I may have to see who else has Lantana's so I can buy some. I over watered again. Last nights watering wasn't enough. Everything looked like I hadn't watered it in days! When it gets hot and humid, it gets hot and humid! I didn't dig up the other place I want to plant flowers and maybe I will do it tomorrow, when the heat isn't so hot. Later in the day probably. Tonight we had some frozen, tiny, sweet baby peas. Boy, were they so good! I wish mine were like that. They are good but not that tiny. Not that sweet either.

Today I watered a lot. It is now 1:04 in the AM and it's 78 outside so you can imagine how hot it was outside today. I started to dig out the other place I want to plant flowers in but it was so hot I gave up. I got a small hole cleared away. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter. 100 where I live and with the humidity, my plants to will have to get double watered! I will not be digging anything out tomorrow at all. I am going to take it easy.

Something dug out 2 of my Lantanas today. I mean totally out of the holes & left them above the holes! Gotta sprinkle that Cayanne again, I guess. I was so surprised! Dad says he thinks it's a squirrel and I know we have lots of them. When my niece and nephew were little, we called 2 of the squirrles Sammy and Sally. Today was bad as far as heat and it's supposed to be that way all week. Guess I will be overwatering all week too or trying to. Again, it's 11:45 PM and it's 78. Wow!
